The Australian Leisure & Toy industry prices sky rocket! We have received several calls over the last couple of days about the price increases that are noticeable on our web site.
For our returning customers these increases will be extremely noticeable, as we have always prided ourselves as offering quality products at the lowest possible prices.
In a lot of cases these price increases are substantial, 40%– 50%.
We believe in keeping our buyers up to date with any changes in the market place, which is why I am writing this blog.
So, why these ridiculous price increases?
To put it as simply as possible, the fall in the AUD has had a major impact on those distributors importing from overseas with this year so far seeing distributors paying roughly 40% more per product, which they then pass onto us, the retailer. Each year manufacturers also put their prices up (in most cases this happens every 4 – 6months), as they need to change their prices in line with increases in manufacturing costs.
So what does this mean for you? I would love to say that the prices will go down but the likelihood is that the prices will again go up. We have already been advised of this by one of our main distributors. These increases will happen sometime after the end of March 2009.
We will always attempt to keep our customers up to date with any information we have. We are only sorry we couldn’t reach everyone before the price increases that took place on 2nd February 2009.
The news in not all doom and gloom, as you will see Lily’s Playhouse stocking some new and exciting ranges, some we will be importing ourselves which means we can pass these savings onto our valued customers.
